March 22nd National Goof Off Day

Today is a day to do nothing. National Goof Off Day is a day to have fun and not get caught. You can’t goof off unless you are not doing what you are supposed to be doing. The day was even created as a goof by Monica “Moeller” Dufour from Davison, MI. It’s “dangerous” to goof off, that’s part of the challenge and part of the fun. Some people have made goofing off an art! So enjoy yourself today but make sure no one knows you are enjoying yourself, otherwise you have not officially goofed off!

How to celebrate – Plan how you are going to goof off. Get others to goof off with you. If you work at goofing off then are you truly goofing off?

August 15th National Relaxation Day

Most of us work hard, we spend lots of hours doing the things we have to do, not the things we want to do. Well today is the day to change that, not forever, but at least for today. Today your job is to relax (boy I hope this is a weekend day, I haven’t checked yet!) Put your feet up, kick back and take a nap, read a book or just stare into space, it doesn’t really matter. Whatever way you chose to relax is the right way to relax! Ever go on vacation and come back more tired than you were before you left? Well, if you are on vacation take a vacation from your vacation! Chill out, hire someone to do all your work for you, you have the day off from everything!

How to celebrate – Don’t do anything. Have someone make you a nice cool drink. Pamper yourself.

April 16th National Stress Awareness Day

April 16th National Stress Awareness Day

Today we need to become aware of all that stresses us out and what we do to stress others out as well. We also need to learn what eliminates stress from our lives, and what eliminates stress in others. In other words… RELAX! Our lives are stressful enough, we certainly do not need to add more. The day was created by the Health Resource Network. Stress can cause all sorts of health issues and really, it has no useful purpose. And just remember, when you are stressed out it causes everyone around you to get stressed out as well.

How to celebrate – Learn the different ways to relieve stress in your life. Stay calm, getting stressed helps no one. Don’t repeat things that you know stress you out. Find a peaceful relaxing activity such as bike riding, yoga, reading…

August 15th National Relaxation Day

Why do these days always seem to fall during the work week? Clearly someone who is either retired, or not working created them. Seeing as how no one has claimed it, it makes me think it may be the latter.

However, that being said, today is a day to sleep in, and let your mind, and muscles, take a break (or serve in Congress which is about the same thing). We do need to relax though, it builds us back up, and makes us actually more productive when it is time to work.

In some ways, wouldn’t it be nice if we could sleep walk through our day. Get our work done while we sleep so we can accomplish two things at once! Or how about doing one of those 5k runs!?! If we could sleep through it we could get in shape while catching up on our sleep! Most work an 8 hour day and they say, whoever they are, that we should get 8 hours of sleep too, perfect! Get them both done at the same time!

Then when we are awake we can spend more time… you got it… relaxing! We could be the most relaxed creatures on earth! The same “they” also say we are most creative when we are relaxed. I assume that’s because we don’t have to think about what we have to do. I know a lot of people that I have worked with don’t ever seem to be thinking about work when they are working.

So today is your day to relax. Sit back and let your mind wander, your muscles unwind and your nerves settle. You deserve it because… well because… just because.

How to celebrate – Spend your day relaxing. Figure out your own relaxation schedule, so long as it doesn’t require any effort. Don’t worry, be happy.
