It’s Christmas Day. It has so many means to so many people. The true meaning is, it’s the day of Christ’s birth. Now we don’t know the day He was born for sure but December 25th serves the point as well as any other day.
Today we give gifts, eat with our families and celebrate what is most important in our lives… even if we don’t celebrate it for the “right” reasons. The giving of gifts imitates the Three Wise Men giving gifts to Jesus. The tree the three symbols of Christianity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.
We have sort of made up the rest over the years. Santa Claus comes from Saint Nicholas, who was a real person that gave gifts to his village in the name of the Lord. He wasn’t fat either, Coca-Cola did that. No, not his drinking it, they just thought he looked better on the bottle if he was fat.
So today is a birthday celebration that all Christians celebrate. We all do it in our own way and that’s okay. I remember a Pastor telling me that he thought it was great to light up your lawn with every light you could manage to place. It lights up the night and shows all what you believe in, for the right… or the wrong… reasons.
How to celebrate – Have a Merry Christmas. Respect others beliefs. Celebrate the season.
You owe it to yourself to splurge every once in a while, and since you need to, today is the day. You don’t have to go hog wild (Whatever that means) just do something, eat something or try something you normally would pass on.
Yes, it will probably cost you something but sometimes it’s healthy to spend on yourself the same way you would to others. Buy yourself that gift that no one else has picked up your hints on or treat yourself to something you really want but have been denying yourself.
Okay, you may not want to do it all the time. That could get costly. But one day is okay, unless you are thinking of buying a yacht you can’t afford or eat more than what your stomach will hold. You may not want to over do it, if you’ll still be paying for it by the time Splurge Day comes around again next year.
But it is healthy to fulfill some of your dreams occasionally. It allows you to know things are always within reach, even if you have to save for them or struggle to achieve them. And it will always benefit others as well! It benefits the salesperson, the store, your family and those around you!
No, money can’t buy happiness… but it can get you close! Buy, do or say something you normally wouldn’t today… you’ll feel better for it. Today was created by Eventologist Adrienne Sioux Koopersmith.
How to celebrate – Do something you normally wouldn’t do. Buy something you normally wouldn’t buy. Eat something you normally wouldn’t eat.
Today is the day to do whatever you want, just because you can. You don’t need a reason, you don’t have to ask anyone, just dot it! (Making sure yo are doing something that others will not find offense or end up with you in jail) You feel like going fishing, well then, go fishing.
Who knows, maybe this time you will catch something more than a cold. Now if you are going to eat the fish, that’s fine, but if you aren’t, then set it free. There is no need in killing something just for the sport of it.
If you feel like giving someone a gift you don’t need a reason, just give it to them. Hopefully you’ll give them something they want, or hopefully they will accept it in the spirit it is given whether they like it or not. It doesn’t have to be a birthday or Christmas, not an anniversary or valentines day. Just give it because you want to expecting nothing in return.
Or give someone a hug! Like a brother or a sister. You can try to hug a total stranger but you might not get the results you hoped for! Everyone likes a hug, even Howie Mandel! But make sure they will accept it before knocking you out for trying it.
Or maybe you could sneak someone a kiss. Again, the key here is making sure that they will accept before you give it, otherwise it might end up with you getting a black eye! The day was originally created by Father Joseph J. Goodwin from Los Gatos, CA.. He created it as a movable holiday, probably hoping that every day could be a just because day.
How to celebrate – Start your day out by doing something unexpected for someone. (Make it something nice though.) Do something you have always wanted to do but have never gotten around to. Spend some time with someone you haven’t had the time to give lately.
Have you ever wanted to create your own holiday? Well today is the day to do it, March 26th, is National Make Up Your Own Holiday Day. It is believed that the Wellness Permission League started the day but no one knows for sure, guess it doesn’t really matter because this is supposed to be your day.
If you want to make this (Insert your name here) Day, go ahead. Or maybe you could create a day with a little more pizzazz! Like, I Love My Hammer Day, or Dance With Your Dog Day, or maybe even Have a Flower For Lunch Day!
Of course you’ll need to come up with how you celebrate this day. No one is going to know if you are wrong or right, this is your creation! What food is best served for this holiday?
