Can’t have pets, don’t want to take care of a living creature? The next best things are Plush Toy Stuff Animals. You don’t have to feed them, water them, bathe them and you can still cuddle with them and talk to them, just like you would a real animal. They are generally cute, may make you laugh and after the initial expense, they are yours forever, or at least until you wear them out. I know they are supposed to be for kids but they can be for adults as well. Sometimes you don’t even have to pay for them… you can win them at fair! (Never mind that you’ve probably spent ten times what they would have cost you if you had bought them outright.) Many of the manufacturing companies make them so they purr when you pet them or bark when you talk to them, they are becoming more an more life-like.
How to celebrate – Buy a plush animal today! Admire those plush animals you already have. Design your own plush animal and have it made.
Today is an important day, maybe even more important than you may realize. It started back in 1990 and falls on every 4th Saturday of October. Today we celebrate neighbors helping neighbors. So many neighbors go out of their way to avoid contact with each other. The idea is if you leave them alone, they will leave you alone. But what if you stopped and helped them one day, then maybe the next day they would stop and help you. Where I live that happens a lot, particularly after a hurricane. But why wait for some horrible reason to help someone. If you see them in their garden, changing a tire or even washing their car, stop and give them a hand. You might find out that all this time you have been trying to avoid them that they may have been potentially your best friend.
How to celebrate – Get to know your neighbor. Start a project just to get your neighbor involved. Realize that nearly every living person is your neighbor.
Now here’s a day every guy will enjoy. Today you should pamper your boyfriend, feed them well, entertain them and well… use your imagination. You know the guy better than anyone else. You know the food he likes because he always makes you eat at his favorite places, takes you to the movies he likes and allows you to watch his football games with him. It only gets worse when you get married so take advantage of the fact that he wants you around! Actually, boyfriends tend to treat their mates better than husbands do. No, it shouldn’t be that way but they are still trying to win you over where as a husband thinks he’s won. We should treat each other like this may be the last day we see each other because it could be. But today is for the men, so treat him well. If he’s smart, he’ll remember it in the future.
How to celebrate – Make a special meal for your boyfriend. Treat your boyfriend like a King! Write down what you’ve done for him so you can remind him later.
Are you thankful for the things and people in your life? You should be because you would not have what you have, or be who you are, without them. Today was created by the International East-West Center in Hawaii during a Thanksgiving Feast in 1965. Most of us are thankful for our families, for being able to enjoy those things in life that make us happy, and for the freedom to strive for those things that make us happy. We can’t always have them, but you should be thankful for even having the right to try for them. Life is what you make it, you might as well make it the best you can, and be grateful to those who have helped you along the way.
How to celebrate – Thank the people around you for being who they are. Do something to make someone else happy. Do what you need to to make yourself happy.
I know most husbands appreciate their wives, they just don’t show it much, if at all. They’ll get them flowers for Mother’s Day and Chocolates for Valentine’s Day, but what do they get them for just being there? Sure, they may talk a lot and have a never ending list of chores for you to do. Maybe they don’t like your jokes, and maybe they make you get dressed up and go places you don’t want to go. So what do you give them? Your dirty clothes, expect dinner on time, and want them to answer your most secret desires. Sounds like a fair trade out! (just kidding,). This day always falls on the third Sunday in September so you have no reason to forget it! Mark it down so you don’t forget!
How to celebrate – Find some way to show your wife you appreciate them. Actually listen to what they are saying today. Try doing all that your wife does today so she doesn’t have to.
Who’s your buddy? It only seems right that after yesterday being International Day of Friendship that today we celebrate our true friends, dogs. Now the pure bred dogs are fun to look at but for a true friend, you require the half-breed, the mutt. This is a dog that has nothing to prove and often nothing to lose so they give you their all and often asking for only a small bit of you in return. I am a true dog lover. They are my best friends which makes me want to give them all I can. They celebrate with us on our highs and stay by our sides during our lows. They don’t care about about what kind of house we have or what kind of car we drive, whether we were the most fashionable or dress like a bum, they love us because… they love us. And the best of all is the mutt. They may not be pretty and they may never win a ribbon, but they will always be your friend.
Hot to celebrate – Love your dog. Adopt a rescue. Treat your dog like a King or Queen today.
Friends are very important to people, and animals. In fact, if you have a good friend you can get through practically anything. Historically, the United States was actually the first country to have a friendship day back in 1919 but it was not nationally recognized. Paraguay was the first to declare a national day of friendship on July 30th, 1958. Since then the United National has declared an International Day of Friendship in 2011. It’s amazing that it has taken this long to create the day, of course the world hasn’t always been that friendly of a place. I guess in many ways it still isn’t. Maybe if we try a little harder this is something we can actually accomplish. Then again, maybe not. But there is not harm in trying. The more friends we have the less enemies. But the only way to have a friend is to be a friend, it has to come from both sides.
How to celebrate – Say hello to an old friend. Make a new friend. Treat others how you want to be treated.
Got a garden? It’s summer and most of us try to grow something. The birds love it! Naturally birds are not a friend to gardeners. (Nothing against birds, they got to eat too) But birds are sort of afraid of people so the idea is, get someone to stand in your garden all day long. Since that’s not very likely, a scarecrow is your best bet! It doesn’t take much, some old clothes, a little stuffing and your done. The idea is to make it look scary but more often than not they look funny and friendly. A scarecrow does not need to meet any standard either, it can look like the Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz, the Tin Man or even Dorothy! And your building yourself a friend, someone you can talk to that will never disagree with you… at least I hope not. Build A Scarecrow Day always falls on the 1st Sunday in July.
How to celebrate – Build a scarecrow! Plant a garden so your scarecrow has a place to live! Watch the Wizard of Oz.
So who is your very best friend? Your BFF? How many BFF’s have you had in your life? Friends are bound to come and go. We all would like to have them there forever but it just isn’t practical. Is your mate your best friend, they should be because hopefully you’ll be spending a great deal of time with them. But it’s not fair to not have a BFF aside from your loved one, after all who are you going to complain to about what’s wrong with your mate if not for you best friend!?! Today is the day to remember your best friend, honor them and remember just how much they really mean to you.
How to celebrate – Take your best friend to lunch. Call your best friend if they live to far away to visit. make a list of all the best friends you’ve had.
I feel bad for families where the brothers and sisters don’t get along, they are family and I can say with certainty that I love and appreciate my sisters. They have always been there for me and I will always be there for them. There is something about family that can never be replaced, it’s not a duty, it’s not an obligation, it’s an honor. Today is a day we get to openly show we care even when so often it’s taken for granted. And maybe that’s okay too, since to expect to be cared for and not have to worry about it is nice too. But then, that’s just what brothers and sisters do.
How to celebrate – Take your brother, sister or both to lunch today. Send them a thank you card for all they do. Just visit for no reason at all.
