May 1st National Pet Month

May 1 National Pet Month

This month, for the entire month, we recognize that one man’s pet may not be another’s. However, it shouldn’t matter. If you love your pet, why care about whether someone else loves it or not? Dogs and cats are the best known pets but frankly they can come from any species on earth (and maybe from elsewhere if you believe in that sort of thing). Horses, snakes, rodents and I assume even the occasional worm could be considered pets. Love them regardless of what they are, they are yours and you should be theirs. And remember, this is not just for today but for the entire month!

How to celebrate – Take your pet for a walk (not recommended for goldfish). Spend more time each day with your pet. Buy your pet a gift.

February 20th Love Your Pet Day

Most of us have some kind of pet, a dog, a cat, a bird even a fish. The list can go on and on, I even had a pet bull once in my life (no I won’t explain). The thing about animals are, they can be, and generally are, that friend that we don’t ever have to explain anything to, that doesn’t care what we look like when we get up, or pass judgement in some of our worst moments. They are our friends, our babies, and sometimes a reflection of who we are. So stop and let your pet know you love them. They do that every time they see you.

How to celebrate – Give your pet a hug today (unless your pet is a fish). Give your pet a treat for no reason at all. Spend the day with your pet, you won’t regret it.

October 29th National Cat Day

Try to tell a cat owner that a dog is better than a cat. It’s not gonna happen. Yes, a dog can fetch, roll over and play dead. A cat could too but it just doesn’t want to. It knows it’s good and feels no need to prove it to anyone.

Take Diga who can perform 20 tricks in less than a minute!

Or Sophie Smith who is the cat with the longest fur.

And Ludo who is the world’s longest cat.

Well, you get the point. If you want to learn more Click Here!.

Cats are great in their own right, you just have to understand them (they do not have to understand you however). Just learn to play by their rules and you will do fine.

National Cat Day has it’s own website, www.nationalcatday.com and is supported by Petco and Blue Buffalo.

How to celebrate – Take your cat to lunch (it might be a bit messy but your cat will enjoy it). Dress up like a cat and see if they think you are a long lost relative (they still won’t care but you might get a nudge of recognition). Buy your cat a toy and watch them play with the box it came in (just like human kids).
