Need to get your day started with a charge! Have an Espresso! Similar to the Capuccino, the Latte and the Macchiato the Espresso became a very popular coffee drink after Luigi Bezzera invented the Espresso machine in Italy in 1901. It is a finer ground coffee, full of flavor with a foamed topping and in most cases sort of like starter fluid for the mind. Normally one is enough to get your day started and wake up your mind. Of course if one is not enough, you can always have a double espresso! Naturally you can have an espresso any time of the day, may not at night before going to bed, but otherwise… have at it!
How to celebrate – Have an espresso. Get an Espresso Machine. Learn how to grind your coffee correctly.
It doesn’t matter if it’s a bike, in a car, on a horse, or even in or on a grocery cart today you need to go for a ride just for the fun of it. We all use our vehicles to get where we want to go but try taking a ride just to take a ride. I think of my dog who loves to go for car rides… I think she wonders why we don’t get out more often and check things out but shes gotten use to it so now it’s just a ride and she loves it! It’s funny how much more you see when you are just going for a ride. Things you miss when you are trying so hard to get somewhere.
How to celebrate – Go for a ride. Take your dog for a ride. (I do not suggest doing the same for your cat) Get some exercise so use a bike to ride.
Today was created during a time of war. The war was the 1973 war between Egypt and Israel and Brian and Michael McCormack wanted to find a way to help people to get along with each other. Their idea was basic, if you stop and say “hello” to at least ten strangers during the day everyone would have a better day. Perhaps an overly simple plan but it is a great plan for making contact with another human and that is a great step forward. Something so simple as saying hello, hi or good morning can change the shape of their day, and your day.
How to celebrate – Say “hello” to ten people today you do not know. (You can say hello to more than ten) Find something to like about everyone you come across today. Make this day the start of every day for the rest of your life.
Most of us have heard the phrase “Being on Pins and Needles” and associate with being excited about something and having to wait for it. Did you know that the saying comes from a Broadway show though? The International Ladies Garment Workers Union produced Harold Rome’s play in 1937 about the garment industry. There were 1108 performances of the pro labor play before it went dark.
How to celebrate – Visit Broadway. (Yes, I know it’s still closed but then, so is the play!) Write your own Broadway play about something you feel passionate about. Read about the labor unions in the 1930’s.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What one person finds beautiful another might not find attractive at all and that’s okay because we aren’t seeing the same thing at the same time. Nature can be beautiful though immediately following a hurricane or tornado its not so pretty. A person can be beautiful on the outside but very ugly on the inside. Love can be a beautiful thing unless you have been treated badly by it. So maybe instead of trying to have a beautiful day we should just try to have a good day because we can find something beautiful about our lives today if we try, even when so much of it looks ugly. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so look for what is beautiful to you, not everyone else.
How to celebrate – Find something beautiful today. Create something beautiful today. Make a list of what you find beautiful.
Leave it to the good people at Wellcat.com to come up with a day where you wish someone to have a bad day. I mean I know there are a lot of people we secretly hope that they have a bad day but there are few we would actually say it to… but here we are… a day we are actually suggested we wish someone to have a bad day. That’s something I think people are actually very capable of having without our input. But if you have ever wanted to wish someone a bad day, here you go, it’s today!
How to celebrate – Wish someone a bad day. Forget today altogether. Make a list of all those you would hope have a bad day.
November 18th National Princess Day
Movies have had a lasting affect on our society. They have made us laugh and cry, fighting mad and fearful, curious and astounded. So why then, shouldn’t they make some of us Princess’ as well! That is just what “The Swan Princess”, released on November 18th, 1994, did for all those would be Princess’. Seldon Young, the producer of “The Swan Princess” believes all little girls, and big girls, deserve to be a Princess at least once in their lives. And so National Princess Day was formed, on the day the movie was released. After all, we once had “Queen For A Day” so why not “Princess For A Day”?
How to celebrate – Treat your daughter, wife or sister as a Princess today. Form her royal court and bow to her every desire today. (It’s only for one day) Realize that when you make your daughter Princess that makes you King (Or Queen) so hey, you get a promotion as well!
Do you believe in the Occult? Many do, many take it seriously, many to some lesser degree and some not at all. Astrologers are considered to be a part of the occult as is Alchemy. Witches and Warlocks are in the cult, in fact any group following something out of the ordinary or believing in a world of things not clearly visible to everyone. That actually covers a lot of territory. The main difference is based on what society deems to be dangerous and what it doesn’t. The most recognized symbol of the occult is, perhaps, the Ouija board. If you don’t want to tempt fate, don’t play with it… the occult is not a game.
How to celebrate – Determine what you feel is a part of the occult and what is not. Be careful of what you believe in and what you don’t. Know the difference in what you consider fun verses something that needs to be followed.
Today was created by the Homemade Bread Day Committee of Montague, Mi. No one seems to know exactly when that occurred but since bakers celebrate today by pricing a loaf of bread at 40 cents, the price charged in the 1970’s. There is nothing like the smell of bread baking. It can fill a house with a scent that makes nearly everyone feel better and hungry. I remember visiting a bakery at a Marine base just as they were baking bread for the day. I did not want leave and none of those with me wanted to leave either. If you can remember that scent from one or two loaves being baked at a home imagine a thousand loaves being baked all at the same time.
How to celebrate – Bake some bread today. Visit a bakery today. Thank a Baker.
This could be a tricky day, Have A Party With Your Bear Day. If your bear is a Teddy Bear then this can be accomplished pretty easily but if your Bear is alive and roaming the woods then there could be an issue. The first issues, is simple… you can do a themed party like Thanksgiving or Christmas as bears do not celebrate these holidays. What do you serve as snacks or treats and will anyone attending, other than the bear, enjoy what you are serving. (It is very important the items served be a delight to the bear of else the bear might eat your other guests. Do not serve alcohol, drunk bears are normally not good guests. And this time of year do you wake any sleeping bear to invite them to your party, they might tend to be grumpy.
How to celebrate – Invite any bears you know to your party. Make sure you have plenty of honey. Throw your party in a cave to make your guests at home.
